Not everyone is mechanically inclined, but we are.
Each time your wheel is removed from the vehicle, your lug nuts will be tightened and torqued to the correct specs by your technician. After this is performed and as you drive, your vehicle’s lug nuts will experience many physical effects such as the vehicle’s weight, rotational effects of the wheel, and bumps. Even as your vehicle leaves the shop, your lug nuts and studs will warm or cool depending on the temperature outside. Debris and dust between your studs and lug nuts may also create small gaps. Once debris and dust are knocked loose, there will be empty space, causing unwanted movement.
In either case, you will need to return after driving 50 to 100 miles to have your lug nuts retorqued. This is typically done in a few minutes, no appointment is needed, and it is offered at no cost.
If you have a check engine light it is very important to schedule an appointment! A check engine light can be caused by a multitude of issues, many of which can have detrimental effects on your vehicle if not taken care of in a timely manner. We will perform a comprehensive OBDII Scan Test and let you know what the stored codes are free of charge! Engine OBDII codes are not cut and dry, and almost always require diagnosis into the issue to find the root cause of the concern. You will be asked if you would like us to perform diagnosis into the issues presented, and we can carry them out at a rate of $139.99 an hour. This includes testing electronic parts and wiring. This does not include final repairs. Once a diagnosis is reached, you will be given a repair estimate, and we can move forward with getting you back on the road!
Fluid changes and flushes are very important to the health and longevity of your automobile. Many people have been led to believe these services are unnecessary or just a scam, but this is the furthest thing from the truth.
You change your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, Right?!
Just like your engine oil, all automotive fluids break down over time. Transmission fluid will collect clutch material and moisture and recirculate it through your transmission, shortening the service life. Brake fluid will collect moisture, lowering the boiling point, making braking less effective. Transfer cases and differential assemblies are mounted low on the vehichle and are prone to water ingress; water in the fluid effects lubricity, and can lead to premature wear of gears, bearings, and other hard parts.
At EJ's Automotive, we suggest these fluid changes based on two factors; Mileage and Visual Inspection. We use ProDemand to reference your vehicles Maintenance Schedule, most manufacturers recommend all fluids to be changed every ~60,000 miles. If we find you are due for these services, we will perform a visual check of the fluid to verify that it should be changed.
If you need your vehicle back by a certain time or date, please let us know when dropping it off and we will try to accommodate your schedule. Vehicles in New York are ever prone to rust and rot, things don't always come apart according to plan. Bolts break, plastic tabs crack, and 1 hour jobs can turn into 4 hours. Parts can be hard to find, difficult to source, or unavailable due to supply chain issues.
In short; let us know when you need your vehicle back by, and we will accommodate you. Be it not starting repairs until you have enough time, or predetermining a stopping point.
